Why I'm an atheist...

“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

- Stephen Roberts

Concise, clear, and to the point, this quote echoes my own standpoint. Argue it if you can!

Have you read 'The Intelligent Person's Guide to Atheism'(Daniel Harbour)? I did quite a while back. It did not quite convince me on the atheism argument.
Anyhow I reckon that some of the most important things whether religious or not is openmindedness, tolerance, acceptance, empathy and understanding and of course love. Rs

I haven't read that, but will look for it.
I fully agree with you on your second point - but would argue that many organised religion's teachings (most notably christianity, islam and judaism) discourage openmindedness and tolerance.
