Have you read 'The Intelligent Person's Guide to Atheism'(Daniel Harbour)? I did quite a while back. It did not quite convince me on the atheism argument.
Anyhow I reckon that some of the most important things whether religious or not is openmindedness, tolerance, acceptance, empathy and understanding and of course love. Rs
I haven't read that, but will look for it.
I fully agree with you on your second point - but would argue that many organised religion's teachings (most notably christianity, islam and judaism) discourage openmindedness and tolerance.
